Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his future following a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted known failings from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results like these.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
