Emma Raducanu wraps up this year's campaign and plans to retain trainer into the 2026 season.
The British player made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments in the current campaign.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events in 2025 due to the illness that has affected her in recent days.
The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.
Those preparations will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together in 2026.
She required blood pressure checks in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.
Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.
She was also playing far from freely in the third set against Zhu due to a lower back issue that has affected her at times this year.
Those results signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month.
Raducanu won twenty-eight matches during 2025 and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.
The British number one made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.
The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was through the season's conclusion but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.
She mentioned that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.
The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
