Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
