Orbital Images Depict Iranian Navy and Nuclear Facilities Hit by Joint US and Israeli Attacks.

A series of US and Israeli strikes has reportedly eliminated or harmed no fewer than 11 Iran's navy ships starting the weekend, recently obtained orbital imagery demonstrate, with launch facilities and enrichment plants also being targeted.

Pictures of the southerly Konarak naval base and the Bandar Abbas port installation, which is located on the strategic Hormuz Strait and is home to the main command of the Iranian navy, show smoke billowing from several vessels on Monday and Tuesday.

Naval Forces Incurred Significant Damage

Included in the vessels destroyed was the Makran, the country's most sizable ship which had been used as a unmanned aerial vehicle platform. Aerial imagery indicated black smoke emanating from the ship which had been moored at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical evaluations suggest that no fewer than five ships at the port were "hit or sunk". Pictures of the southern part of the harbor reveal plumes ascending from the Makran, while additional ships are visibly impacted, with one seen burning.

Over at Konarak, images reveal multiple harmed vessels, with expert review pointing to impacts on six vessels. Pictures from the start of the week also indicate that several buildings at the base have been demolished.

"For a long time the Tehran government has disrupted international shipping," a senior US military official stated. "At present, there is not a single vessel from Iran operational in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz or Gulf of Oman, and we will persist."

Some vessels allegedly destroyed may have been hidden in aerial photos by haze or plumes, or struck at sea, and have not been conclusively proven. Separate reports suggested that one Iranian ship was going down off the coast of Sri Lankan territorial waters, leading to a rescue operation.

Rocket Installations and Nuclear Locations Hit

The destruction of Iran's rocket sites and the prevention of enrichment activities were declared as further aims of the offensive. Satellite images also revealed strikes on the southerly Khorgu base and north-western Tabriz missile bases, and at the Konarak base, where rocket warehouses and fortifications were struck.

At the Choqa Balk-e unmanned aircraft site west of the city of Kermanshah, significant destruction was observed to warehouses, underground facilities and drone launch equipment.

Damage was also observed at a surveillance station at the Zahedan airbase military airport in eastern parts of the country, close to the border with neighboring nations.

Of particular note, the latest wave of strikes have reportedly focused on facilities at the Natanz complex – considered at the heart of Iran's atomic program. An international watchdog said that the affected buildings were used for access to the facility's underground enrichment facility and that "no release of radioactive material" was likely.

Broader Consequences and Assessment

Observers suggested that the strikes appeared to have "greatly reduced" the Iran's naval capacity to sustain conventional attacks using its biggest vessels. But, it was emphasised that Iran maintains the capacity to launch asymmetric warfare at sea through the use of drones, mini-submarines and its so-called "clandestine network" of oil ships.

The overall scope of the damage caused to Iran's defense facilities remains unclear, with strikes said to be persisting. Imagery also reveals widespread damage to the main offices of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the capital Tehran.

A large number of non-military structures also are reported to have been hit in the capital and across Iran after the hostilities escalated. Reports of deaths from ground sources state that many hundreds of civilians may have been lost their lives in the strikes.

With the conflict ongoing, review of aerial photographs will continue to track the unfolding military landscape.
